Anat Ben Nun '09 receives high grades in women's track and field

WALTHAM, Mass. - Recent Brandeis University graduate Anat Ben Nun ‘09 of Haifa, Israel, has been named a second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, as selected by the College Sports Information Director's Association (CoSIDA), for women's track and field.

Ben Nun, who was presented with Brandeis' Max I. Silber Award as Outstanding Senior Female Athlete, was a three-time All-American in the triple jump for the Brandeis indoor track and field team. Having missed her entire junior season with an injury, Ben Nun finished sixth in the nation in 2009. Her best career performance came as a sophomore, when she was NCAA Division III runner-up in the event. She also finished third as a freshman. Ben Nun was a four-time University Athletic Association champion in the triple jump, three times indoors and once outdoors, with three All-UAA honors in the high jump as well.

Academically, Ben Nun was a five-time Academic All-UAA selection who carried a 3.94 grade point average as a major in International and Global Studies with a minor in peace, conflict & coexistence studies. She earned Phi Beta Kappa honors and was a recipient of a Joseph Linsey Fellowship for her graduate studies. Ben Nun will be attending graduate school in Washington, D.C., at American University for a Masters in International Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Ben Nun gives Brandeis an Academic All-American for the second-straight year, following Kaitlin Streilein '08, who was recognized for softball. She is the Judges' first track and field Academic All-American since 2003, when Mariko Tansey Holbrook '03 was a first-team selection.
